Christian movie 77 Chances is a film about a man named Jason Shaw (play by Andrew Cheney) who keeps reliving the same day over and over again. The movie starts on day 77, when he starts telling an elderly man at a coffee shop what the past 76 days leading up to that point have been like for him. It’s produced by Echolight and directed by Tracy Trost.
Jason thinks he’s meant to save the life of a beautiful woman named Makenna (played by Rachel Hendrix who also played Hannah in October Baby) – a woman he is attracted to. But very slowly, Jason starts to learn that maybe it’s not Makenna that needs saving. It’s a very powerful message and the movie does a great job of unveiling incredible truths we can all relate to.
Even though the situation isn’t realistic, certain plot points of the movie are. Jason blames God for certain events and pushes his family away. We’ve all had periods in our lives when we’ve followed God and things didn’t turn out the way they were “supposed” to. A subtle message in this meaningful film is that God never promised us a smooth ride, or even a fair one, but He never abandons us and when we change our attitudes and hearts, life can become that much more of a gift.
There are many Christian movies out there, which is good, because there is a definite need for sending positive and uplifting messages in how to deal with difficult situations in life. You will relate to so many elements in this movie, regardless of whether you struggle with difficult family issues or not.
Thank you Tracy Trost, for sharing this film with us. Hopefully, it will reach a wide audience. 77 Chances is on a release tour from September 1st through November 1st, 2015 and you can check to see when it’s coming to your area at www.echolightcinemas.com.
